Gyro Base Systems
The MK-V modular
base system has been design with gyro stabilising in mind. The
Standard base system is designed to mount 2x KS-6 or 3x KS-4 Gyro
modules, and gyro power supply. It takes around 10 minutes for
the gyros to obtain their full speed of 22,000 rpm, and around
15 minutes to stop once unplugged. It is therefore recommended
to have a large separate battery to keep the gyros at speed between
shots. (Gyros are designed to be at speed for long periods of
time, up to 8 hours continual use). The best application for gyros
are long lenses, high winds and or vehicle / boat mounting, or
any shot that needs to be totally solid. The more leverage the
gyros have (length of post to gimbal) the more effective the stabilisation.
Please note all gyros are rather 'noisy' and may
get a few comments from the sound department, and Gyros are not
designed for fast panning in shot.
