This is the MK-V flagship system and was specifically designed for working with the MK-V AR system.

The Nexus base system (patent pending) is more Film & Digital orientated - with numerous battery combination’s and set ups. Combined with the New V3+ D-Box system you have SD and HD-SDI monitor outputs, AR control and recorder in/out.

Used with the V2″ Advanced Gimbal and MK-V 2″ 4 stage post - this system combines total flexibility with tremendous stability.

The V2 and the New V3 Nexus base can now be inverted over the sides of the D-Box. This will give you the most compact version of the Nexus where the sled ends at the bottom of the D-Box.
This makes the whole sled even with the 2″ 4 stage Superpost shorter than a PRO 2 sled.

The V2 Base is Invertible - therefore the bottom of the sled is just under the D-Box.

The New V3 Nexus Base can now also mount sideways, which gives better battery clearance and also keeps all the batteries in line.

V2 Lite Inverted Base with RED one and RED Batt Module

The new V2 (Lite) base Genesis is an All new (patent pending) design, it has a number of all new features and is designed to work with all the new breed of cameras. (as well as all the old ones too)

The Main innovation of the V2 Lite base is that the whole base can be inverted, so the post can either join to the D-Box as normal or to the base it self – this allows for the user to put their own cables down the post, very useful with new cameras like the RED One and the SI Mini. (2” 2 stage post recommended for this)
The D-Box can also be made even more RED camera battery friendly and will work with the RED cameras battery inputs, Monitors, cables and mounts.
The V2 Lite D-box has all the usual power and video features inc 12v & 24v and HD-SDI as standard.
And by changing the battery bars from Carbon Fibre 19mm ( ¾”) to either Aluminium or Steel you can dramatically alter the weight of the base of the sled.
The monitor arm can either be included or separate too.

This is a Very light sled system, and it flies like a much heavier sled, it is such a stable platform.

Even though this is a lightweight sled there is no limit to the weight of cameras you can use with it. Like ALL MK-V Sleds it can fly from DVC to IMAX.

It is also available with the 15mm bar system as well.

New MK-V HD-SLR Weight-Cage

The ALL New MK-V HD-SLR weight-cage is a new concept in mounting lightweight cameras to ‘Steadicam’s’ or ANY other application.

The New Cage works in various ways and allows the user to keep the camera and all accessories rigged and move it between ‘Steadicam’, Handheld and Tripod/ Crane work.

Unlike normal weight cages, this new concept puts the weight just where you need it and is not that heavy.

I first showed the HD-SLR cage at Cinegear (2010) and all the Ops who tried it were blown away by how it feels. The design feels like you are using a Big camera, like a Panaflex, in the way the sled moves and behaves, with only a fraction of the weight.

As the HD-SLR cage has mounts for a Vast range of accessories and options you can mount everything and anything you need to work with Any camera.

For example using the 5D/7D you can mount focus systems and motors, Batteries, converters and monitors etc to the cage so the camera becomes a complete package, more like a film or HD camera. With the use of the MK-V Quick-Stix™ (available soon) you can easily go between ‘Steadicam’ and Tripod/crane or handheld.

We also have hand held attachments for this System.

And it is compatible with RED One 19mm handheld mounts.

This cage can also take the RED One, Epic and all handheld cameras, like the Sony EX-3 and HD still cameras and iPhones and smart phones.

The idea is, the Camera lives in this cage system and then you can mount this complete system to anything.

The system is totally compatible with all the Genesis Sled, battery and Monitor mounts.

I have been using the Nexus V3+ now for several months with a Panavision/Sony F35 camera. We use this camera with fiber optic cable, Flash Recorders (SSR’s), and sometimes with the deck on board when the DP needs to speed ramp. The versatility of the Nexus sled along with the updated V3+ HD post wiring has made shooting with this camera a joy. My HD anxieties have been calmed and I now spend my time working on the shot, rather than worrying about battery management. I also love the gimbal and the versatility of the 4 stage post.

For those of you not familiar with the Handsfree transporter, this is freedom on a grand scale.

The Handsfree is a modified Segway system, converted so you do not have to hold onto anything; therefore you are free to shoot from the mobile platform either hard or soft mounted, handheld or Easyrig at speeds up to 20kmph.

There are 2 models basically – Lean or pedals.

The Lean is the latest version of the Segway and this is available in 2 versions, basic and full feature. This is also available with a wonderful hard mount. This system soft mounted allows the op to step on and step off from the front or back without any help.

The Pedal version uses the original design of Segway and you control the steering with your feet.

This is available as well with the hard mount (recommended)

When used with the MK-V AR system, this becomes and very powerful and mobile system.

Jeff Mart

1943-2009

It is with a heavy heart I mourn the loss of a wonderful friend and one of the true pioneers of Steadicam. For those of you who did not know Jeff Mart, he was one of the kindest and most wonderful people I have ever met, always ready to help with a smile and joke.

His talent with the ‘steadicam’ was unique and incredible – his stories and shots, like running up a pyramid with a tow rope,

or hanging over the edge of a boat under a crane, having shoes with hooks in the end so he could climb up chain link fences, or his Bike with 1 handle bar he would ride for chase scenes or when ever he had chance…

Or my favorite, putting a 12 step ladder on the end of a tulip crane that was on a ship at sea and then climbing down the ladder and doing a step off and ending with the camera underwater in a pool at the end.

Hard to imagine for us mere mortals like myself.

Jeff was a true pioneer of all things Steadicam, he was the first person in the world to privately own a Steadicam system, and he also was the first person in the world to own the MK-V AR system. Jeff heard about it and asked to see some photos and he ordered one from me a full year before it was even shown.

His passion for all things Steadicam was amazing and infectious – Jeff worked with me on my stands for the last 6 years and we had the best times. Always smiling and helpful.

I got to spend some real time with him this year, at NAB and Cinegear, he was a true friend and gentleman.

We were going to do a film together soon, but sadly this will not be….

One of his favorite things was to ‘fly’ on the Strada crane, he said it made him feel like Peter Pan – And I think this is very true of Jeff, he is the ‘boy’ (man) who never wanted to grow old…

I was in LA when I learned of the sad and untimely death of Jeff Mart, Steadicam pioneer and great-hearted friend, who inspired us all with his ingenuity and daring.

At Cinema Products in 1977, just after the release of the Model I, we were stunned to receive a 16mm print showing an apparent madman on a bicycle, operating Steadicam while bouncing down a steep alpine meadow!  Plus the incredible footage from his CP-16!

It was Jeff, who chose that unforgettable way to introduce himself; and ever since, he has been the hardy’mountain man’ of Steadicam, meeting every challenge head-on and bringing off one impossible shot after another with heart-stopping panache.

Jeff tamed and mastered bike shots, for example, by simply cutting off one handlebar and became legendary around the campfires in Maine and Philadelphia for his canny solutions to  Steadicam dilemmas like running up the steps of that bloody temple!

We all worried about him — I worried for years that he was too bold, too impulsive, too vulnerable to some bit of loose gravel or slippery handhold or stupid blunder by someone else. But I finally realized that though he was game for anything, he improved the odds with brilliant preparation, and his vitality and boldness always carried him through.

So it’s heartbreakingly unexpected to learn that Jeff died ‘off the clock’.  Just slipped away from us, out of our sight and hearing, to his place in our small noble pantheon along with Teddy and Bob and Andy and a few cherished others.

Jeff, I deeply regret not having a chance to tell you how much you have meant to me and to all of us over these many years.

Here’s to you great friend.  We’ll raise a glass in your honor as long as these stories are told.

I got the idea from the new style Mustang, it looks like the classic, but has all new engineering etc.
This is what we did with the Classic arm, take an industry standard workhorse and then up date the build technique, styling and performance to be easier to maintain and be a better, stronger and smoother arm.
All thrust bearings have been designed out, which reduces friction and therefore improves overall performance.
